Welcome Aunty Ollie to the Enchanted Closet

The cutest children's label arrived in store today. The gorgeous Aunty Ollie is the brainchild of Aussie ex-pat Jodie Hampshire, who after adopting her three beautiful children from Sierra Leonean, was inspired to start a range for kids that didn't feature super heroes nor make them look like they were about to head out clubbing. The result was Aunty Ollie, a range of clothing in beautiful prints and designs, perfect for the coming summer months. We'd like to welcome Aunty Ollie to the Enchanted Closet!

Where the Wild Things Are

One of my son's favourite books when he was younger was Where the Wild Things Are. We're both looking forward to the upcoming movie release and hoping it lives up to the book. This pic is from the highly entertaining Practical Encylopedia of Good Decorating and Home Improvement, 1970. Someone has done an amazing job painting every inch of the bedroom.

Mabel's House - Blog of the Week

I stumbled across a new blog I had never visited this week and spent many hours pouring over the beautiful images. The blogs called Mabel's House and documents the life and times of Liz and her lovable dog, Mabel. Visit Mabel's House for gorgeous picks of Liz's home, shown above and for 'how to' lessons on everything from recovering vintage lampshades to making tomato, peach and mint salad. Thanks Liz!

A Home in the Hills

I loved the photo shoot of actress Kirsten Bell's home featured in last month's Instyle. Kirsten's home was decorated by well known interior decorator, Stacey Vuduris. I especially liked the dark walls used in the dining room which sets of her display shelving, and are such a great contrast to the bright, white kitchen. The ottoman in the living area is beautiful too, I'm loving the Chiang Mai Dragon fabric from Schumacher.

The Wonderful World of Disney

I don't know about you but this image brings back some pretty strong memories. I remember every Sunday night as a kid, ready for bed after a bath and in our pjs, waiting for the Wonderful World of Disney to start. It was pretty much the only T.V. show Mum and Dad would let us watch and we looked forward to it every week.

On that note, our family has had a very Disney kind of week. My sister and her family just got back from Tokyo Disneyland. And then yesterday my brother and his family won a competition, the grand prize being a fully paid trip for four to L.A. Disneyland. Pretty cool huh!

Peter Dunham

I know this picture of designer Peter Dunham's LA home has been absolutely flogged on blogs throughout the land but I love it. The use of colour, print and pattern is sublime.

DIY Disaster

I loved this piece of artwork when I spotted it a few weeks ago on Desire to Inspire (I think.....). So last week I tried to replicate it and let's just say the end result won't be hanging in my home anytime soon. It was an absolute art disaster even though I thought it looked so simple and easy to do, mine turned out looking like argyle socks. I was going to post a photo but it's just too awful.

The Collectors

It never ceases to amaze me how you take a very simple item like a book or a pencil and group them together by colour or style to create an interesting space. I tried colour coding my bookshelf once but after a day it was messed up again, so I let it be. I love the very simple idea of the bird pictures used as wallpaper in the first image.

In A Cluster!

I've posted about cluster art before and how much I love how it looks. We have pretty high ceilings in the Armadale store and a large expanse of wall space that needs filling. So we have decided to do a floral themed cluster art wall similar to the one pictured in the Domino picture. Here are our first Ebay finds to start the wall off, I especially love the rose oil painting in the gold frame.

A Swish and Swanky Tour!

The gorgeous Amanda from the blog Swish and Swanky, is currently running a children's bedroom series with decorating ideas, real Aussie kids bedroom tours and fantastic giveaways. Today her bedroom tour is of my son's room. It was a lot of fun doing the tour although getting decent answers out of a nine year old boy regarding decorating was tough work at times.

Also check out the great Kinder Gallery  giveaway Amanda is running at the moment. And thanks Amanda for inviting us to participate in this series.xx

It's Raining, It's Pouring!

It's a wet, wet day here, we even had some hail. I'm heading home soon to rug up in front of the fire. Hope you're all having a great day.
