Autumn in the Enchanted Closet and the Macedon Ranges

We just finished our autumn tree in the shop which looks very cute. The clothing you can see hanging from the tree are part of the new Snoffs kid's range that arrived in last week. I've also included in this post a few Autumn pictures taken in Woodend and Macedon where our shop is located. As you can see, it's a pretty spectacular time of year here.

Margherita Missoni - Italian Heiress

It's very hard not to envy Margherita Missoni. Not only is she beautiful with fabulous style, she is also heir to the Missoni fortune. For me it's not so much the money I envy (although that would be very nice), it's the access to all of those amazing clothes and homewares. Those who know me well, know I covet Missoni homewares and I'm trying to build a collection. So far it's a very, very small collection, consisting of a cushion and a couple of hand towels! I love Margherita's casual, slightly boho look and her apartment is like her, stylish, elegant and a little experimental.

New Belle & Boo

Have a look at the new Belle and Boo cards and gift wrapping that arrived in store today. Unpacking this order was an absolute delight. The gift wrap is too nice to use as wrapping, it deserves to be framed.

The Fabulous Five - Little Jane St

1. MAKING ~ crafting, gluing, cutting, stitching, stenciling, stamping, sewing and generally making a big mess...

2. Tea... I have been completely won over - love it! I still need my morning cup of coffee to get me up and going but this is the stuff that I like to sip throughout the day...

3. BOOKS! and plenty of them. I love all types of books, especially crafting and design related. At the moment I have a huge crush on vintage crafting and embroidery books and I just can't get enough!

4. Rummaging for discarded treasures!! Op shopping, antiquing, ebay-ing you name it that is where I will be... The main source for all my creative inspiration. No matter what or where I am, most weekends I try to squeeze in a little search at the local shops to see what I can uncover.

5. Last but certainly not least - catching up with family and good friends. By far the most important thing I could not live without!

Alarna, the designer behind the gorgeous stationery and textile studio, Little Jane St, has very kindly answered The Fabulous Five - five things she can't live without. Pop over to Alarna's website www.littlejanestreet.com.au where you can purchase her lovely cards and gift tags, and then swing by her very sweet blog.

The Dressing Room - Jackie Kennedy

What's not to love about the White House dressing room of former First Lady, Jackie Kennedy. Interior designer, Stephane Boudin, was commissioned for the job and managed to convey a sense of style, luxury and warmth. I love so much about it, the blue walls, cluster of photos, the blue chaise and gorgeous screen. Even though it was designed circa 1962 it has a timelessness about it. If you look really closely you can see where Jackie hung personal photos on her mirror. To read more about it and view more beautiful rooms check out the Architectural Digest article here.

One Very Stylish Family

                                      Charlotte Gainborough -  French Vogue

                                                Hermes Birkin Bag

What do you do when your parents are the epitome of 60s cool?! Become the modern day version, that's what. Charlotte Gainsborough is the offspring of French singer/actor/director Serge Gainsborough and 60s fashion icon Jane Birkin (Hermes famously named the Birkin bag after her). Serge and Jane were the 60s equivalent of Brad and Angelina but much, much cooler in their day. Charlotte has gone on to forge a successful singing and acting career while constantly appearing on best dressed lists around the world. She also has two sisters, photographer Kate Barry and model/actress/designer Lou Doillon, no stranger herself to best dressed lists and fashion campaigns. It makes you wonder, style and chic must be in the genes.

Sofia Coppola - The Coolest Kid on the Block

Lux Lisbon (Kirsten Dunst) The Virgin Suicides

                           Directing The Virgin Suicides

She's a designer, director, actor, muse and comes from Hollywood royalty. Sofia Coppola is my all time favourite celebrity. I remember watching her in The Godfather III and loving her quirky, slightly kooky look. She has gone on to direct beautiful, whimsy and dreamy films such as The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette. Her style is  a mix of Parisian chic and downtown New York, she's Marc Jacob's favourite muse and has designed for Louis Vuitton. And when it comes to red carpet events she always gets it so right. It just doesn't get any cooler.

Family Time

We have mum and my aunty staying with us this weekend. A cold snap has hit today, which my mum is loving as it is so very different from Queensland weather. Tonight the family is heading to the local pub which has a fabulous open fire. Then it will be back home to get the fire going, crack the red, a block of chocolate and light the candles. A perfect Saturday night.

Early next week I'll post details of our Easter Giveaway that Enchanted Closet is running for all of our blog readers. Have a great weekend.

Mary McDonald's Home

I love this guest house of L.A. based interior designer, Mary McDonald.  I especially love her use of colour, strong geometric shapes and her grouping of items, such as the photographs in the tiffany blue room and the jade pieces in the top image. Gorgeous.
