Lady Melbourne

Yesterday we were very lucky to have a visit from the ever glamorous vintage style queen, Lady Melbourne. Her effortless ladylike style and charm is an inspiration to all.  We are avid readers of her blog and were delighted to see a post this morning about her visit to our shop.  Thank you, we would love to have another visit from you soon!

Country Style

When we first talked about opening a shop in the country, one of our goals was getting a mention in Country Style. The March 2009 Country Style arrived on my doorstep this week and I was a bit excited to open up to the Enterprise section and see our shop featured. We would like to say a big thank you to Country Style, but most importantly to freelance journalist Kathy Mexted for writing the article. Thanks Kathy, we hugely appreciate the great job you have done!

Susannah Tucker Photography

Susannah Tucker is a Melbourne based photographer. Being self taught, Susannah's images tend to capture emotions rather than technical aspects and I love how her photos evoke memories of childhood, long summer days at the beach, racing through grassy paddocks and climbing trees. You can purchase Susannah's prints and photo blocks at her Etsy Shop.

Oscar Night

As the red carpet got underway for the 81st Academy Awards last night it was looking like a sea of neutrals, gold and silver. Marissa Tomei looked beautiful in Versace, as did Anne Hathaway in Armani. Other hits in shimmery neutrals were Jennifer Aniston in Valentino and Sarah Jessica in Dior. Kate Winslet looked lovely, but oh so safe in Yves Saint Laurent . And I thought Marion Cotillard looked divine in Dior.  Jewellery was a sparse affair, there wasn't the usual bling associated with the Oscars - a reflection of the tough economical times. I didn't love Amy Ryan's dress, but her necklace was stunning. But for me the standout in styling was Angelina Jolie. Her Elie Saab gown could have been a really boring affair, but the addition of the those emerald earrings and cocktail ring took the outfit somewhere special.

Coastal Dwellings

We live in a gorgeous part of Australia, a place where tourists flock to soak up the beautiful scenery, great food and wine and some country charm - all within 50 minutes of Melbourne. But we are land locked and therefore coastal design does not sit well here (although it can be adapted). But this doesn't stop me from  loving beach houses and all they entail, so here are a few of my favourites. And when I can afford my little beach house on the south coast of NSW, I'll be referencing these pics.

P.S. It's Oscar night and I'm a little excited. Look out tomorrow for all the fashion hits and misses. Also Mia and I have a write up in this month's Country Style. I'll be posting a copy later this week. A huge thanks to Kathy Mexted who wrote the article.

Quiet Time

I have the day off tomorrow and ideally I'd like to be curling up on that couch with a really good book. That probably won't happen......

Have a nice weekend.

Stephanie DeArmond

I know there have been a few blogs over the years on ceramicist Stephanie DeArmond but I couldn't resist. I love how when you first look at her typographic forms you think how pretty. Then you have a proper look and you see her use of sly humour, giving her ceramics a contemporary edge.

The Getaway

To me this looks like the perfect weekend holiday house. This home belongs to Matt Albiani, a New York photographer. I love the nautical touches, and even though it's carefully styled it still feels like somewhere you could escape the reality of everyday life.

Morrison in store now

Today was a bit exciting as our first drop from Morrison arrived in store. The Morrison 'Toujours' collection, meaning 'always' in French, is a true reflection of the brand, which delivers Australian comfort, quality and style mixed with a touch of French chic. Here at the Enchanted Closet we are pretty proud to be stocking such a beautiful Australian fashion label. We'll be posting more info about Morrison over the coming weeks.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. I haven't read the Spohie Kinsella Shopaholic series, I'm purely looking forward to seeing the Patricia Fields' inspired fashion. The outfits look kooky, a little crazy and rather unique. You wouldn't expect anything less from Patricia Fields.

Has anyone else noticed how much colour seems to be creeping into our homes and fashion trends lately? I'm a huge Missoni fan and have never been shy of adding colour in my house, so I'm loving this current passion for colour. Whether it be bold mirror frames or whole walls, or just some colourful throw cushions, I love it! Now if I could only afford that Missoni rug......

Brussels in Bloom

Given that Valentine's Day was yesterday and flowers are often used as a gesture of love, I wanted to post these pics of Brussels in Bloom. Every two years, Grand-Place in Brussels, Belgium is transformed with over one million begonia blossoms. The festival first began in 1971 as way of promoting begonias. This year the design is based on a medieval carpet, and for each square metre 300 flowers are used. Amazing.
